Hāmākua Marsh

Healthy Climate Communities is a non-profit organization based in Kailua, Oʻahu, dedicated to combating climate change through education and community engagement. Since 2015, they have collaborated with schools, community groups, and volunteers to cultivate a native forest on the Hāmākua Marsh watershed. This reforestation effort enhances carbon sequestration, improves water retention, and provides habitat for indigenous wildlife, including rare and endangered plant species. The organization offers environmental education programs, including field trips, school workshops, and teacher training, to foster a community knowledgeable about climate change and proactive in implementing solutions. Regular volunteer opportunities are available for those interested in participating in reforestation and conservation activities.
